an artists statement

I have to admit, those words have always terrified me...to actually admit to the world that I consider myself an artist #1, and #2, what message I want to send about my work...I know they are supposed to be short and sweet, but the pressure was still on...

I recently started doing my applications for the upcoming year of shows, and I wanted to do something different ala pink scented resume in Legally Blonde...so I came up with this idea, to showcase my artists statement for the application for Ballston Market...

and Jessica, the lovely coordinator of said event, was kind enough to use it as an example on their blog!  thanks for the shout out!!

show recap...BUST Craftacular

so it was over a month ago that Jen and I made our way up to NYC for BUST's holiday Craftacular sale, which was by far the biggest show I've been involved in to this date...it was so exciting and it was a bustling show, filled with wonderful shoppers and vendors...

and even more exciting, there was a photo taken of me and my booth, that ended up on the website for Metromix (guide to NYC restaurants, nightlife and events!)

Thanks Jessica for forwarding to me!  If only it was taken from a slightly better angle...oh well, motivation to hit the gym!

final weekends at Fenton Street Market

the last two weekends of October marked the end of the season for the Fenton Street Market...and it felt only fitting that we attended the last weeks as we were there when it started...a new, and better location, a bigger crowd, and probably the nicest weather we've had all fall...looking forward to going back next season!

another weekend, and another local craft show...this time the Fells Point Festival...another weekend I wouldn't have made it through, without the good company of my BEST girls!

the second day was cold and rainy, but we got to meet a real live gummy bear!

Federal Hill Festival

and if I wasn't tired, crazy or busy enough...the day after we got back from Vegas, was the Federal Hill Festival...at least it was local, so I didn't have to travel too far...and I had good company for the day!

let the season of craft shows, continue!

image compliations

so many shows ask for 2-5 images of your work...and when you have just an allowance of two to submit...how do you really showcase all of your designs? collages! or at least that is what I started doing...not sure if it's 'legal' but they are just two images...

here's what I've come up with so far...what do you think??

one application down...oh so many to go...

first show that I've officially applied to for the 2010 spring craft show circuit...

Richmond Craft Mafia's Spring Bada Bing!

oh, how far I've come...

as I was sifting through photos of my jewelry designs to submit for a few craft show applications...and I came across a photo of one of my very first 'booths'...

how sad is that?! it was one of the first shows I had ever done, and I am so glad that my style has evolved...into something like this...

I am glad, however that I kept a record of this, and all the original designs I came up with, to see how awful some of them were, and most importantly...to see how far I've come :)
