Illustration Friday - Lonely

so this topic was from 2 weeks ago I think...and wouldn't ya know...I sketched it...but never finished it...and subsequently (ooh big word!) never posted it.


but I didn't want to deprive your lovely eyes from seeing it ;)  so here you go!!

not sure how exactly my mind works...but this was my first brainstorm for Lonely...so I went with it...debating whether the peanut butter jar should look more empty...like with "x's" for eyes...or is that too morbid?

guess I should start watermarking these gems of ideas I have ;)

Illustration Friday- CARRY

I was so productive, and ahead of the game, that I had drawn my Illustration Friday for this past week over the weekend...and then what happened?  I forgot to submit it!  sheesh!  oh well :)  I will just share it with you, my lovely readers :)

when I saw the theme of "carry,"  the first thing that popped into my head was the poem by e.e. cummings, so that's what I drew...in the car...in a notebook...not my sketchbook...not sure why I'm choosing to draw there recently...maybe it's because if I make a 'mistake'...it's not in my REAL sketchbook...I'm weird...I know ;)  someday I will make a more finished, and polished version of this drawing...but until then...enjoy!!

Illustration Friday- Lost

When I first got the topic for this week's Illustration Friday, LOST, my mind immediately went to the show that infuriated me for 7 long seasons...but I wasn't quite sure how to illustrate it...

so I just saw down, with a spiral notebook no less, and just started sketching...and came up with this:

it reminded me how much I love just mindlessly sketching, and I need to do it more!

Illustration Friday - Celebrate

whew...I have not posted for IF since last year...and I think one of my big goals for this year was to do an illustration every week...well better late then never I guess!

This week's topic was celebrate...so I thought I'd look forward to my little kitties turning 5 this May :) It's hard to believe they are 5 already...they definitely still act like they're kittens :)

Enough- Illustration Friday

this drawing is basically what the inside of my head sounds like every day...enough...enough of the job I hate, the career that is going no where...I am really working at getting myself portfolio ready, find some good sites that I can post things, illustrator groups, self-promotion, yada yada yada...but that all takes time which there is definitely not enough of in a day! but most of all, I've really had enough of wasting my days, doing meaningless work, when I could be doing something I enjoy...so the ball is in motion...either an Alternative Route Teacher Preparation Program...or find a way to actually get an education degree and do what I've always wanted to do...and have time to do my own freelance work on the side...

that was probably way too much information...but I hope it makes my drawing for this week make more sense!

so I usually have been scrambling last minute just to get an entry in for my weekly illustration challenges...but I think I've gotten back in the swing of things...so here is my 'WIP' or work in progress for this week's Illustration Friday topic: Sour

the first thing that came to mind...was sour patch kids, and how I can't go to the movies without them :p

Illustration Friday - Fierce

it has been wayyyyyyyyyyy too long since I've done a post for IF, but I'm hoping to be back on track, hopefully posting every week :)

this is my first attempt coloring my drawing in photoshop- I used the wonderful tutorial on Jonesapalooza's blog...I had been afraid to try it, but his instructions were so easy to follow, I know I'll get the hang of it with more practice :)

so here is my entry for this week...I came home the other day, to see my cats staring at what I thought was just the ground, but then I realized, they were chasing a ladybug that had found its way inside...my very tough, and FIERCE cats were a little afraid of the little bug...

I am ahead of the game this week...well actually if I didn't get this done today...I probably wouldn't have had time...so here is my submission for the theme: Fortune...first thought into my mind was find the chinese symbol...and this one stands for Good Fortune...or at least that's what they tell me!

I tried something new this week...I did my submission for this week's Illustration Friday theme the way I always have, drawn and colored with ink...but then I also created it in Adobe Illustrator, since I'm finally learning how to use it-yay! I've attached both :)
