one semester down!
whew! today I turned in my massive 48-page unit plan for my Art Methods class...and took my final exam for Content Area Reading...no class for 3 weeks is my present for all my hard work :)
I have to say, I wasn't sure I'd make it to this point...it's been a lot of work, and I definitely have felt the exhaustion directly related to it...but it's all good things on the way to getting my certification nailed down...and eventually a Master's degree :)
I unfortunately failed miserably at taking a victory nap today...but I did just lay down for an hour, so at least I gave myself some actual relaxation time.
so now it's just two weeks of school left before winter break.
and it's been one month since Brett has been home.
I need these holidays to get here more than ever this year!
even Eddie agrees...he's been hanging out with me, which NEVER happens...so we know he really misses that guy who lives here too...

cat traps
I stumbled across this photo on Pinterest today...because let's face it...being stuck indoors for 4 days now, I've had plenty of time to search the interwebs for *very* important stuff...
ahh, cats and boxes...if I put one on the floor, there is a cat in it in under 10 seconds...usually Jack, and then I make the awesome joke:
"Hey, it's a JACK in a box"
teehee...crack myself up.

dinner for one
this year, it has felt like I live alone- more than since I actually did...B has been traveling for work a LOT.
seems like he's been away more then he's been home this year, and while I'm sure the home-to-away ratio is not that extreme...this is definitely the first time his travel for work has taken our schedule hostage.
between having to re-route flights to meet me at destinations we were supposed to travel to together, or leaving mid-day from work to an emergency job...the biggest toll is on him, and how tired he is all the time...
being that I am a teacher...travel for work isn't really an option, and I think I'm glad about that...while I love to travel for fun, living out of a suitcase for weeks on end is not my idea of a good time...
so once again, I'm on my own for a few days...just me and the cats...we've got our schedule down pat...but Eddie is always a little angry when it's just me (human-wise)
we already had a mini drama today, when he got his claw stuck in the door hinge...
naturally I took a photo of it...and then I put on the oven mitts to try and free him...much howling and flailing later, he was free, and begging for dinner...disaster averted.
hopefully the rest of our week will be less eventful.

the three amigos
so as most of you know, we have three cats...(enter cat lady jokes here...)
but tonight as I was sitting down to do a little work on my laptop I sat next to Eddie...cat #1 as he is the oldest- also the cat who doesn't like me very much (unless it's time to eat...) and he looked so cute sleeping I took his photo...
of course he noticed, and opened his eyes, so he appears to be annoyed...
and then he immediately turned his back and went back to sleeping...we are BFFs...really ;)
I usually call him Cranky Pants...or sometimes Edward Scissor Paws because we can NOT cut his nails...he goes a little psycho and it's more scary for us than it is worth it for the few times he tries to swat at me...so the claws live on...
I know I might seem crazy talking about my cats so much...but they do make me laugh, and even though I always thought I'd have a dog someday, I am really happy I have them :D
with their weird little personalities...Jack who is really a dog in a cats body, following me EVERYWHERE I go, and Kevin, the goofiest, most clueless one of them all...but by far the happiest...

Thursday's Shoe Story
so they aren't technically shoes...but from the moment I get home, until I leave the house again, I live in my fuzzy black slippers...I've probably had a version of these slippers for the past ten years- probably since I left for college...and while I couldn't tell you what number pair I'm on- Mom, any guesses?- I probably will always own slippers like these...
maybe I should have foreseen cute, furry black cats in my future :)

Thursday's Shoe Story
about two years ago we got, well what we then thought was a ton of snow...and after the big snow had cleared, I purchased a pair of Columbia Snow Boots...I was going to be prepared for the next round!...well the next round never came, and my boots sat in the box they came in for over a year...and I thought I had purchased impulsively...well skip to last weekend, 30+ inches of snow, followed by another 12ish...and what do you know...pretty much the only shoe I've worn for over a week :)so boots, I salute you...warm, slip proof, not to mention cute :) and the cats like them too!

snowpocolypse 2010...
it all started around 11am on Friday...just a few flurries, and nothing had even started to stick to the ground until about 5 or 6 pm...
by Friday night we had a good covering, maybe a couple of inches...
when we woke up Saturday...snow up to my waist! our plans to head to Whitetail for skiing didn't work out today...but maybe tomorrow? I got a few good photos of the snow...and as of right now 3pm on Saturday...it's still coming down with no signs of stopping anytime soon!
