winter wonderland?
let me start by saying, I love snow.
yup, stating the obvious I know.
however, the little dusting we got last night and into this morning was certainly not enough to designate as a "snow storm"...but it did earn us a 2 hour delay.
makes the northerner in me laugh.
but, like I said, I'll take it! 2 extra hours of sleep, and a yummy breakfast before a short Thursday? works for me!
now bring on the real snow, the real winter. the temperatures are in the teens...we need snow go to with it!

December Art Room happenings!
it's hard to post this work today without thinking about those poor families, whose children will never bring home any more art work from school...to think, how safe is my school...or is any school for that matter?
but I won't get into it further than that...unless you want to just see blubbery mess on this screen...
so instead, I'll give you some of the art my kids at school have been making...we are getting into a great rhythm, and I'm so impressed with the amount of work we've done this year compared to last year...
5th grade worked on perspective and points of view- they drew a "winter character" of their choice from three different view points
4th grade worked on these cute 'melted' snowmen...with a writing incorporation
3rd grade made winter landscapes in cool colors with geometric shapes
Kindergarten-2nd grade made these adorable 'peek-a-boo' polar bears...so cute I couldn't help myself!
PK-1st grade made colorful snowmen
2nd grade made winter scenes in snowglobes
and heres another penguin :) this one is from a 1st grader :)
whew! and that was all since Thanksgiving!
we have been really busy...and in the next week, we'll finish up some small stuff before we get back into the swing of things in 2013 :)

Friday Finds - winter wonderland
so far this winter we've had a few small dustings of snow in Maryland- the one big snowstorm in New Jersey the day after Christmas has held me over for a while - but I need snow! I love to watch it fall from the sky, and coat the sidewalks, making everything beautiful - until we start driving on it...
so this Friday Finds is inspired by my dreams of a winter wonderland...enjoy!
a cute print by The Dreamy Giraffe
a cozy scarf/shawl by Sweet Knitting
and the beautiful Icicles necklace by Hampton Jewels

skiing...making improvements :)
we went to Whitetail to go skiing again, on Saturday this past weekend, and even though I had a minor (haha) meltdown at the same place I got stuck the last time we went...but my boots fit better, and I felt more confident...so baby steps...I am no longer afraid of the chair lift, and I almost made it down a green slope :) only ten days and counting until we go to Vermont...

seriously...not kidding...it's snowing...AGAIN!
I love snow...have I mentioned that before? I really do...but living in a city has made me see snow in a whole new light...not only does it turn greyish/blackish/gross almost instantly...but there is just no where to put it!

it even snowed Friday night down in SC, and my parents sent me photos of the house, with snow...thought they moved south to escape the snow of winter ;)

and yup, snowing again right now...so far just a light dusting on the places that have been cleared of snow...and just adding to the piles that we'll have...until April...just my prediction...

Thursday's Shoe Story
so boots, I salute you...warm, slip proof, not to mention cute :) and the cats like them too!
didn't we do this already??
I love snow as much- no, probably more- then the next person...but I'm starting to get a bit cabin-feverish...I did make it out on Tuesday to work, but by the time I was picked up at 2pm, the snow had begun to fall again...my estimate (since it's hard to tell where the last snow stopped and this snow began) is about 10-12 more inches...they predicted anywhere to over 20, so we can be glad it wasn't quite that bad...we never lost power through all of this, thankfully, and although our arms are sore from shoveling, I have no complaints for our plentiful snow :)

and I don't work again until Monday, so now I just sit back, and enjoy :) and take pictures of the cool icicles that formed outside! oh and rekindle my love with Mr Coffee...I forgot how easy it is to make coffee at home...I get it free at work, so I usually don't bother...what a happy discovery :)

snowpocolypse 2010...
by Friday night we had a good covering, maybe a couple of inches...
when we woke up Saturday...snow up to my waist! our plans to head to Whitetail for skiing didn't work out today...but maybe tomorrow? I got a few good photos of the snow...and as of right now 3pm on Saturday...it's still coming down with no signs of stopping anytime soon!
