Monday inspiration

I can't believe in one week it will be Christmas Eve!  this time of year that I love so very much, flies by in such a blur, that I feel like we don't even get to enjoy it anymore!


I was definitely that kid that counted down, not only days, but hours till my favorite day of the year...



so for the next week, I'm going to try and do as much festive, holiday related things as possible...to really soak all the joy out of this holiday that I can :)


so in that spirit...I found this cute little quote...that is perfect for this occassion!

it's gonna take a lot of determination to get through this week...and I only have one and a half days of teaching to get through...but between not feeling great, and lots of work to do before the black friday/cyber monday sales, I need a pep talk.

now, the Hokies have had a rough go of it as of late...I honestly still love 'em, and I wouldn't trade my college years for anything...


so maybe this will inspire those who haven't gone to college yet, to make the most of it...and if you're lucky, you'll make some of your best friends there :)


speaking of friends...I get to go to Charlotte this weekend to see one of those friends get married :)  can not wait!!

Monday Inspiration

today was a loooooong Monday...after a weekend of traveling and then not getting much sleep last night...even though we had the windows open and the weather is just perfect for that...


although being as close to Raven's Stadium as we are, I kept hearing the crowds cheering and the announcer yelling out Raven's players names...so maybe I was subconsciously distracted...because I certainly was tired.


but anyway, better late then never, I found this nice little quote, and I thought it was a good thought for a loooooong long Monday...

emphasis on the positive...just make a choice to be happy people!

Monday Inspiration

so I usually post something inspirational that I've found out on the internet somewhere, but this week I thought I'd share something that happened in my classroom :)


one of the first big discussions we had this year, was the topic of "why is art important"...I had been having my students write their own answers, and I started to see them get frustrated, because a lot of my students have trouble with literacy on both the reading and writing end...


so when I had one of my 1st grade classes come through, I decided we'd make a poster, that I would write their answers on...and have them all sign it.

the kids did a great job, and their answers were so creative!  and it looks so pretty hanging outside my room!

it's not always easy...but this is potentially the last free Monday I have until next summer...or a Monday we have a holiday...


but, it's so much easier to get through the Mondays if we are excited about them...hooray enthusiasm!

now ask me next Monday if I'm still enthusiastic ;)  we'll see!

I really liked this saying...I think so many people expect things to just happen easily, falling into place, and honestly...I always was told that 'nothing worth having comes easily'...and I believe it!  sometimes you have to work for things people!  that just makes it all the more worth it when you achieve our goals :)

I hope this quote is true...because sometimes I feel like I spend so much time researching and planning ideas, but not really going out and being inspired...recently we've been able to travel a lot, see friends and family- we even made it to the beach!  I am definitely enjoying the "living" part of life these days :)

this is a quote that a friend of mine from growing up always used to say...and she was/is totally right...being a first year teacher in such a discouraging area, with little to no support...has made me realize just how important it is to fight for what you want...

it also taught me that the things in life that are most rewarding are not always going to be easy, and not always going to be on the road you are used to traveling on...
