Thursday's Shoe Story

It's such a strange transition that my closet has taken...from tons of heels that were way too high and way too skinny, to sensible, comfortable flats that I can wear teaching, or just out running errands.

slowly packing up the bags of donations to goodwill, and replacing (of course...can't let the supply get too low!) I came across these, super comfy and I think super cute shoes at Target...oh Target, the store I need to stay far, far away from!

They are a good option when closed-toed shoes are necessary, and their neutral color makes them match just about everything :)  although, realizing that this is not the best photo...since they pretty much blend into the carpet...oh well!

Thursday's shoe story .:. rain, rain .:.

after about a year of walking around on rainy days with soggy feet, and cursing myself for not buying rain boots...I caved...and look at the adorableness that sits on my feet on those days!!

so they never went on sale, but they are worth every penny...plus I found a gift card...they are at Target!  go, free your feet from the soggyness!

Thursday's shoe story .:. is it warm yet? .:.

if you know me at all, one of the things you probably know is how much I adore the snow...I love to watch it fall during the day, I love to be stuck at home getting lots of work done because it is snowing, I love to make warm food like soup when it is snowing out, and I love when the sky gets dark, watching the snow flutter down in the street lights...

so why, you might ask, am I looking forward to warmer weather so much??

because Old Navy has adorable new sandals, and I can not WAIT to wear them!!

when I went gift card shopping recently, I got myself this pair...

maybe I'll just wear them around the house for now...until I can wear them outside :)

Thursday's shoe story .:. maroon and orange pride .:.

how cute are these?  I have been looking for rain boots, because well, I don't like when my feet get wet, and we know how I feel about cute shoes :)

Stadium Stompers is the company that makes these water proof, and team spirited boots...and they have several other color collections, so you can keep your feet dry, and cheer on your team at the same time!

because you can never have too much glitter...

ahh shoes, one of my many weaknesses...but I've been pretty good in the recent months to curtail my urge to buy multiple pairs of shoes...although I really could use a good pair of rain boots...but I digress...

so this Thursday's shoe story isn't about shoes I own...but rather shoes I feel like I should...

hello...they have glitter on them...like everything else in my life (not all on purpose)...super cute new shoes at Payless...can I resist??

*I'm a size 9, should anyone feel compelled to get them for me...

Thursday's Shoe Story

for a long time I rebelled against the ugg-ly boots...I think it was the whole worn by all the celebrities...in California...in July that got to me...also the cost...they looked comfy, but I really couldn't justify spending over $100 for a pair...

but then back in December, when I was home in NJ for Christmas, I happened to stop in Old Navy, where they had on sale...for $12...these boots...

I had tried on a few pair in Payless, and never really thought I could pull them off...I didn't have the right pants, they looked like they didn't fit...etc...

these were different though...they were like little clouds, little pillows for my feet...so very unbelievably soft and comfortable (not to mention the price was right!) so they were finally mine...

and now I wear them all the time, and I feel the weather starting to turn...it's going to be in the 50's this weekend, which means time to dust off the flip flops, and retire these boots till the fall...because you will never see me wearing them with shorts or a skirt...and if you do...you have permission to hit me :)

Thursday's Shoe Story

so they aren't technically shoes...but from the moment I get home, until I leave the house again, I live in my fuzzy black slippers...I've probably had a version of these slippers for the past ten years- probably since I left for college...and while I couldn't tell you what number pair I'm on- Mom, any guesses?- I probably will always own slippers like these...

maybe I should have foreseen cute, furry black cats in my future :)

Thursday's Shoe Story

about two years ago we got, well what we then thought was a ton of snow...and after the big snow had cleared, I purchased a pair of Columbia Snow Boots...I was going to be prepared for the next round!...well the next round never came, and my boots sat in the box they came in for over a year...and I thought I had purchased impulsively...well skip to last weekend, 30+ inches of snow, followed by another 12ish...and what do you know...pretty much the only shoe I've worn for over a week :)

so boots, I salute you...warm, slip proof, not to mention cute :) and the cats like them too!

Thursdays Shoe Story

to the untrained eye, this may just look like a brand new pair of old navy flip flops. and yes, while that is true...they are so much more than that...there is a whole story behind these flip flops...

a few (eek, maybe 2?) years ago, Bonnie and I took a road trip to Bedford, VA...to attend and attempt to sell some of our crafty things at a wine festival...it was not quite as we had hoped, driving the 5 hours down there, staying in a very shady hotel, then getting up extra early, struggling to set up a tent on the most windy day of the year...only to have one thing sell between the two of us!

oh, and I got such a bad sunburn- the lines from it were still visible 6 months later! we stopped for dinner on the way home and to get Aloe for my poor arms...and on the way back we were relaxing, enjoying the cool breeze from the sun roof when I realized, there was a cigarette butt on the top of the sunroof, and I didn't want it to fall in the car, so the genius that I am, used one of my flip flops to try and knock it off. which I did, but my flip flop went out the sun roof too- 60 mph + flimsy shoe = disaster :p

Bonnie, being the wonderful friend that she is, actually turned the car around, on one of those police, 'do not turn around in' medians, and we went back for the shoe- this is on a fairly large highway I might add. As we turned around, we saw a tractor trailer coming down the road and I thought my shoe was toast...but by some miracle, it was unharmed :)

now that's not the end of the story...we cut to last summer...again Bonnie and I are on a road trip, this time with the guys in Atlantic City...its our last day there, we're just coming up the boardwalk from the beach, when I catch my foot on a plank of wood and go flying forward...only to find, my flip flop - the one that survived being run over...was ripped apart! The thong part and most of the bottom of the flop around it had been pulled away...

so this pair is my new one for the summer of 2009...I highly doubt it will have the same fun memories my old pair did...but here's hoping!!

Thursdays Shoe Story

this is probably going to seem weird to most of you.

but I have a lot of shoes.

shoes that I don't wear nearly often enough.

this is going to be a way for me to go through my collection, reminisce, possibly get rid of some that I have no more use for...

so, without further ado, Shoe Story #1

These shoes are my most recent additions...and I honestly haven't bought a pair of shoes in quite some time, but these I found, while in Houston visiting the Borchers clan...it happened to be MLK weekend, and there were sales...these were marked down fom $50 to $14...it was meant to be!

I haven't worn them yet, since when I purchased them it was 70 degrees in Houston, but not so much in Baltimore...but I mean, look how cute they are?? I'll find many a time to wear them come spring and summer :) Happy, sunshiney yellow :)
